Disaster Recovery
When disaster strikes is the time when you rely on your Maintenance Service Provider most, you rely on the fact that the Backup Strategies in place actually work.

At Cavalier IT we develop not only a 'Belts and Braces' strategy for your business but we also test it, something that unfortunately is very often 'forgotten'. Sure having everything backed up to tape is great but do you know what is backed up? Do you know when you actually restore it that it will work, that all your Data is safe?

We recommend that there are at least 2 of our Backup Solutions in place and that these are tested.

1:) The Server must be RAID, the minimum is RAID 1 where the disks are mirrored, i.e. for every disk in the server there is another one which is an exact copy.

2:) The Server must be fitted with a Tape Backup Unit, this will enable the daily backup of all Data and this can then also be taken off site in case of fire, be it the server or the complete building.

3:) Off Site Backup using FTP (File Transfer Protocol) to copy all files to another Storage Server external to the business premises.

Our FTP Servers are located in state-of-the-art data centers. The facilities offer redundant UPS, generator backup and smoke detection/fire protection systems and are under 24/7 camera surveillance and armed guard patrol.

Finally using our recommended Small Business Server we can ensure that all data in the Users Local 'My Documents' is also backed up in case of failure of the client computers.
